This goes hand-in-hand with the Push-off Double Lift double lift, it is one of the basic sleights of hand used to perform a handful of different routines. In the following video, you will see two sleighs of hand: The Marlo Tilt and the simple Tilt Color Change.
Marlo’s Tilt
- Get a pinky break right under the top card.
- Use one of the following convincers:
Convincer 1: Poke some cards in the middle of the deck to create the impression (this is a convincer) you are going to put the card somewhere near the middle.
Convincer 2 (harder): While holding your break, seperate the deck or card aproximately in the middle of the deck and convince your audience “This is about the middle of the deck”.
- When inserting the card it is recommended to bend it slightly to add to the illusion that it is inserted near the middle (not under the top card!). Depending on your angle you can easily insert it normally under your pinky break, under the top card.
Tilt Color Change
- Place your hand on top of the deck.
- With your fingers push the top card by about an inch.
- As you show the top card, pull the undercard with the heel until it is no longer under the top card.
- As you cover the deck bring back the undercard on top of the deck.
